Don't let the idea of meditation put you off, it is not a remote form of mental gymnastics but simply a practical way of calming your mind and allowing you to find the peace and beauty that lies within you. Learning to meditate can take time, trying to rush it or expecting instant results only leads to frustration and takes you further still from your goal. But with guidance we can all find a deeper awareness that not only improves concentration but helps us to develop our understanding of life's true meaning. |

'If you want to discover the meaning, stop chasing after so many things.'

A simple meditation to try at home |
|
| Choose
an object for this meditation such as a flower, leaf or a sea shell. Sit comfortably in a quiet place where you won't be disturbed. (take the phone off the hook !) Spend a few minutes observing your object, looking carefully at every detail. Notice the shapes the colour s the textures, the way that the light reflects and any shadows. Now close your eyes and try to visualize your object, recalling every tiny detail. If your mind wonders don't get cross or scold yourself. Open your eyes if you wish to refresh your image and simply return your mind to your visualization. When you feel ready, become aware once more of your surroundings and gradually begin to increase your breathing. |

As you continue your day take notice of the world . Not wishing to possess, only to observe the beauty which is all around you. |
